The late Director CID, Semisi Bokadi, was described as a loyal and trusted officer. The Fiji Police Force laid its Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) to rest at his home in Namatakula, Nadroga yesterday. Delivering the eulogy on behalf of the Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu said the late SSP Bokadi stayed true to his calling to serve as a Police officer even during his time of sickness.

He said: “It’s often said that some are born to be a Police officer and the late Bokadi was one who we can say was born and made to be a Police officer and he remained a loyal and trusted officer during his 35 years in the Force.” “Even when he was lying sick in hospital he still called for investigation dockets and files and this showed the commitment he had to the oath he swore more than three decades ago.” The late SSP Bokadi has also held the rank of Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police as the Chief of Intelligence and Investigation.

Having predominantly served in the investigation field, ACP Tudravu said the Force has lost an officer with years of experience.

“The Commissioner had extended his contract for another year because of his wealth of experience and knowledge and he was a close and trusted advisor of his”. “We are here in numbers because the late SSP Bokadi was more than just an officer or Director and the head of a Unit, but he was a close friend to many of us and he will be missed”.

All senior officers of the Fiji Police force were present in full uniform as they bid farewell to their comrade.

Fiji Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho handed over the Fijian flag to Lusiana Tagicakibau Bokadi which was a solemn tradition.

The 55-year-old joined the Fiji Police force in 1982 and in 2015 he was appointed as the director CID, before he was called to rest. SSP Bokadi is survived by his wife, Lusiana Bokadi and four children and three grandchildren.

Meanwhile, the current Deputy Director of CID Superintendent of Police Mesake Waqa has been appointed as the new director.
