School Heads Ready for Leadership Challenges

Newly appointed head prefects of Qumusea District School in Macuata are ready for the challenges ahead of them.

The headboy for the school, Laisenia Volau said he was surprised when he was told that he would be chosen to lead the school.

The 14-year-old of Niurua village in the coast of Macuata, is the fourth eldest of seven siblings, and is the first member in his family to be named headboy. He said he was ready to take on the responsibi­lity “The teachers have trusted me and I will do my best not to disappoint them. My parents have played a big role in my badging today,” Laisenia said.

“I will do my best and with the help of the headgirl and prefects we will overcome the challenges ahead The headgirl for the school Vani Kutalele said that she was overwhelme­d when her class teacher told her that she has been chosen to head the school.

The 13-year-old who aspires to become an air hostess said she will set an example to her younger siblings.

Vani is the eldest of three children.

“I want to be an example to my sib- lings. I am the first headgirl in the family and I am excited to lead the students of my school this year,” Vani said.

“It will not be easy but with the help of the headboy and the prefects we will be able to look after the students.” There are 116 students in the school.
