The Mom N Pop League is going to be staged in Lautoka today after a successful start at the Fiji Football Association academy in Ba last week.

Fiji FA development officer Lice Waqaliti said they are looking forward to another positive outcome in Lautoka.

“More than 40 kids took their time out with their parents to enjoy the league last Saturday,” she said. Waqaliti said the Mom N Pop League was basically for children under-10 years of age. “The reason why we call it Mom N Pop League is because the parents will be involved in it as well.

“The main purpose of this league is to generate interest in kids to play football.”

She said Fiji FA was very much committed now in the development of football in the country right to the grassroots.

‘This is one more way to get parents and children together so they can learn football and develop themselves.” Waqaliti said there were lot of positive feedbacks from parents and children who participated last Saturday. “The kids really enjoyed the programme as well as the parents. Waqaliti said today’s programme will be held at Churchill Park’s ground two. “The programme will start from 10 am and finish at 12pm. It will run for 10 weeks and is supported by Fiji FA’s academy staff members.”

She urged parents to bring their children and enjoy the day with exciting programmes being set especially when it comes to learning more about football.

“There is also competition for parents together with their kids,”

The Mom N Pop League will be introduced to all districts.
