Lautoka.

Dear Sir,

It is very uncertain at this stage to predict what would be the results of 2018 general elections . Whatever the outcome is, I would like to sincerely thank our Prime Minister Mr Frank Bainimarama and his team for all the work done for the people of Fiji, be it stability, improvements to infrastructure, free education, facelift of Nadi international airport or support to senior citizens and children with disabilities. Mr Bainimarama as the captain of the ship I think you have indeed touched the hearts of the people. I really don't know if you have a campaign manager for your elections this year, I wish to make it known to you that you definitely have a little campaigner in my house a child with special needs suffering from a rare disorder who always forgets his numbers, colors and alphabets but always remembers you vibrantly, he keeps uttering "vote for Bainimarama" vote for "Fiji First" without understanding the definition of vote.

My son is a big fan of yours and has persistently asked me to get his wish across to you that he wants to shake hands with you and his happy moments captured in a picture, Sir, as a mother of a special child the only fastest way I could think to get my lovely boy's message across to you was through this column. I hope that my son's wish comes true someday. I have noticed that during rainy days students are being sent home earlier than the expected time to prevent them from being heavily drenched.

And not to mention the amount of unbearable heat we're facing.

Our children are heavily effected whether it be rain or heat.

Could the Government of the day or relevant authorities concerned install shades along the Nausori Bridge to help our children to reach home with ease.

Enough of Lovers Park in our towns and cities. Daily we see our parks full with love birds.

At times those who just want to take a break, rest and relax in the park have to leave in shame after seeing our love birds lost in their own world without realising there are others around them. Parents nowadays have to think twice before taking their kids to the parks.

I think we can better utilise our parks and believe me everybody will love this place once this has been done.

All we need is a little initiative from our Town/City Councils and the Government to make this a better place for the public to be at .

Can the councils and the Government install large screen televisions in at least one park in every town and city please.

On normal days they can telecast educational programmes for all age group. This could also be used to create awareness on health, road safety, careers, etc.

Most importantly, telecasting our Sevens Rugby Series live for the public. During 7's rugby, we see people running around in towns and cities from shop to shop just to see our heroes in action.

Shop owners at times are reluctant in allowing people in just for the security reasons. If large screens are installed in public parks then those interested can just go to one place and enjoy the sports together.

Also there won't be many absentees from school or work during any sports tournaments on weekdays.

If the initiative is too costly for councils and Government then we can look for donors locally or internationally.

Many say that 7's rugby in Fiji is the best means of uniting all Fijians in Fiji and through 7's and many in the world come to know that Fiji also exists on the world map.

We all say that “I am proud to be a Fijian” but I say I am proud to be a Fijian because Fijians play real rugby and the world knows about it.

Let's take our parks to another level and make them better places to be with our friends and families.

Above all, let's enjoy 7s rugby to the fullest together with pride.

“Toso Viti Toso”!!

We deeply appreciate the performance of our sevens team and its awesome victories. A lot of people criticised this same team prior to their victories. My concern is, are these players earning enough to sustain their respective families.

Players like Jerry Tuwai, Jasa Veremalua and Ravouvou will no doubt retire in a few years time.

They have sacrificed a lot for the country.

Are they financially ready to care of their families after rugby? Do they earn enough?.

They are local players who have contracts only in the duration of the series. You bleed , bruise and your family gets all sorts of criticism. Do these players earn enough?

It's easy to say that they need to play for pride and Fiji but the bottom line is they have families to look after. FEA's method of reaching all customers via mobile numbers is creative and productive. Can FRCS follow up with this technology. Riddhi Damodar, an NFP provisional candidate for the upcoming General Election wants to fight for women, youth rights and development which are important issues to advocate on.
