LEAGUE LOMARY BACK AFTER 4 YEARS

The Lomary Secondary School Under-15 rugby league side walloped Assemblies of God High School 16-0 in the South Eastern Secondary Schools Rugby League competitio­n at Marcellin Primary School ground in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

Speaking to SUNsports, LSS U15 Waisake Kalivetau said despite making a comeback after a lapse of four years, he was pleased with what they have achieved.

“So far this is our second win from the five games we have played so far,” Kalivetau said.

“I am impressed with the organising of the weekly competitio­n especially on how it is co-ordinated.

“I thank the FNRL board members for encouragin­g our school to participat­e in the competitio­n again. However, we are still awaiting the results from the other matches that will determine whether we will qualify for the quarters or not.”

Kalivetau said one of the challenges they face is the lack of qualified of coaches.

“A lot of work is required in the general aspects of passing, tackling and the fundamenta­l aspects of rugby league which the players are very new to.”
