Road Code Available in Vernacular Now
To aid learners on road safety before being issued drivers’ licences, LTA has translated the Road Code Books into iTaukei and Hindustani
The Land Transport Authority yesterday launched two new Road Code books, one in Hindi and the other in the iTaukei language.
The official launch was done by the Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala during the launch of the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) projects for the year 2018 at LTA headquarters in Valelevu, Nasinu. He said the launch marked a historical event in the calendar for LTA as it launched its first ever Road Code books in two vernacular languages.
He said to date, LTA had issued a total of 315,598 drivers’ licences, of which 285,112 were full licence holders and 30,486 were provisional licence holders.

“The objective of LTA is to work above and beyond its limits to get our learners to the standard required.”
He commended the efforts of the stakeholders, translators, support staff, and entire team who translation the Road Code books into the two vernacular languages.
Mr Bala said the Government continued to support such initiatives to provide better services to the people of Fiji.
