Games Sevens squad list

Former national athletics rep Milika Tuivanuavo­u helped Marist Seahawks edge out Nadi Aviators 19-17 in the women’s final of the Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens tournament yesterday.

“It’s time for something new,” she said after the win.

“This is my first Marist Sevens and it’s awesome to be part of a team like the Marist Seahawks.” Moving forward, she says,that right now she’s still stuck on rugby.

Meanwhile, Wardens came out 10-5 victors over Marist to claim the Plate in the tournament.

Moli hails players

The Police White team beat Cuvu Blues 27-17 to win the Bowls final of the Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens tournament yesterday. Police White manager Sakiasi Moli said they were excited with their player’s performanc­e.

“The players gave their best,” he said.

Moli added that winning the Bowl final has been a good experience

He added that they are going to take part in next year’s Marist Sevens tournament.

“This is our developmen­t squad, like the youngest in the team is 19-years-old and taking part will help develop the players,” Moli added.

Nakaiolo aim high

The Naikaiolo team from Kadavu scored an upset 21-10 win over Army FTG in the Shield final of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s tournament.

Naikaiolo coach Ifereimi Taukirewa said he was pleased with what they had achieved. “We were aiming for the Cup final but we lost in the second eliminatio­ns,” he said.

“We will try again next year and we will improve on some of our skills in order to perform well.” Taukirewa thanked those who supported them along the way especially to those back in the island.

All the respective winners received their prize money and are determined to return and win next year’s tournament.
