In a bid to improve productivity and efficiency in transportation, the Vision Group has invested in an Aluminium landing craft barge.

The Vision Group owns the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa and DoubleTree by Hilton Fiji, Sonaisali. Tadrai Island Resort is located on Mana Island in the Mamanuca Group. The resort lies 15 miles from the main island of Viti Levu. Vision Group chairman, Dilip Khatri, officiated at the barge handover ceremony at the Doubletree Sonaisali Resort in Nadi last week. Mr Khatri said: “The old one has been long gone by the used by date, we have been looking at acquiring a new barge to make things happen. “One of the main requirements at Sonaisali is a barge to transfer goods via a barge over the river. Cluster manager Ronil Sharma confirmed the investment of the barge is $380, 000.

“It is designed to go as far as our third property, Tadrai Island Resort, in the Mamanuca’s and the Yasawas. We can to multiple our commercial businesses in that trip so it replaces the old barge which was more of like a pontoon,” Mr Sharma said.

“The old barge took eight hours to reach our third resort Tadrai, and the productivity and efficiently was not there.”

The SEUSEU 1 is a 15 tonnes barge which is 70 metres long and four metres wide. It is powered by two (2) 250 horsepower and is fitted with modern navigation technology system. Waisea Nasokia
