Deontay Wilder wasted little time in responding to Anthony Joshua’s win over a valiant Joseph Parker yesterday (Fijian time).

The American holds the WBC world heavyweight world title- the final one Joshua needs to complete his collection and become unified champion. Wilder had been due to be ringside in Cardiff but stayed at home when he was told he would not be able to enter the ring for a face-off.

But he was quick to call out Joshua following his unanimous points win in a fight which failed to live up to its build up.

Wilder said: “He knows it, no matter what they say. You can’t bluff the public, I want the fight, let’s make it happen.

“Stop bluffing the fans. I want that smoke, you said if I want it, the fans want it, you want it. You said if I want that work, I can get that work. Well, Joshua, I’ve been clocked in, I’m well overtime baby. Let’s make this fight happen, stop lying to the people. It’s easy, it’s a simple fight to make, let’s make it happen.” Joshua was announced as the winner by scores of 118-110, 118-110, 119-109 and was quick to mention Wilder’s name.

And he said “Wilder or Tyson Fury next, either one.

“What would I have to do to beat Wilder? Get him in the ring and knock him spark out.” Meanwhile, Parker immeditely after the fight said “Today I got beaten by a better champion, a bigger man,”

“I’m going to go back, train hard, plan again, and come back even stronger. No regrets, I’m taking it on the chin.”
