Two friends, Sandita Sanjani and Salvindar Nitesh, who had to juggle study and work commitments, celebrated yesterday after graduating together. Sandita Sanjani originally from Batinikama, Labasa, said that she was proud and excited that she was able to graduate.

The 27-year-old completed her Bachelor of Nursing Science in Bridging Programme.

“I am second in my family to graduate,” Ms Sanjani said.

She said it was quiet challenging for her because she was a registered nurse and had to juggle work and studies.

This was not Ms Sanjani’s first graduation. She graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 2013. Mr Nitesh graduated in the a Bachelor of Nursing Science Bridging programme.

He is originally from Waiyevo, Taveuni and this was his second graduation. He completed his Diploma in Nursing in 2014.

“My parents are proud of me and now I have upgraded my knowledge and I can apply that in my work field,” Mr Nitesh said.

There were challenges faced by him because he was working at Levuka Hospital and had to travel every fortnight to attend his classes.

“It was really hard for me waking up at 3am travelling from Levuka to attend my 8am class and travel back next day to do my night shift,” he said.

He said his parents were very supportive.

Both the friends have not ruled out the option of furthering their education by pursuing post-graduate courses.
