The duo were recipients of the then Public Service Commission (PSC) Local Scholarship. “Being a mother of a 5-year-old daughter was not easy to study and work at the same time. There were times I went through lot of difficulties, but with my parents and in-laws support I managed to tackle all the challenges that I faced,” she said.

This was not Ms Chand’s first graduation. She had graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 2011. Mr Narayan graduated with a bachelor of nursing in bridging programme.

He is originally from Seaqaqa, Labasa, and also this was his second graduation. He had completed his diploma in nursing in 2011. “My wife has always been my inspiration,” he said. Both have not ruled out the chance of furthering their education by pursuing post-graduate courses.
