Tuvusa Tops
Natabua High School sprinter Shane Tuvusa clocked the fastest time in the senior boys 100 metres heats yesterday. And Adi Cakobau School’s Makereta Naulu is expected to sprint home with the gold as the defending girl’s champion showed her superiority on day one
The defending blue ribbon champion, Tuvusa, clocked 11.04 seconds and will face stiff competition from Marist Brothers High School’s Tony Lemeki who clocked 11.05s in the finals scheduled for 6pm today. Tuvusa of Natalecake in Ba is confident he will break the record (10.43s) set by former MBHS sprinter Banuve Tabakaucoro seven years ago. The Ba native told SUNsports that he can still do better.
“I need to focus as my performance at the inter-house competition was a lot better. But I feel stronger and fitter which is a positive sign. I’m happy because I know I can do it as through God, anything is possible. The Year 12 student has worked hard towards winning gold at the Coca- Cola Games.
“I’m expecting strong competition from athletes of other schools during the finals,” he said.
