“It feels amazing to graduate," Ms Chand said.

"It’s like I have accomplished one dream in life and it’s just the beginning of many. “India has so many challenges.

"The first time I came to India I had culture shock, but as time went by I was able to adjust to all the things which were new to me.

“Classes in India is way different compared to Fiji. We had classes from Monday to Saturday starting at 9am to 4pm which I had to adjust because I wanted to be able to tackle all challenges in life.”

The 21-year-old thanked the Indian High Commission for giving her the opportunity. “I dedicate my achievement to my parents because they have supported me throughout my three years,” she said. “As a student in India I have learned that everyone is unique in their way. I met many foreigners in India and not forgetting I stayed with a girl from Cape Verde and was able to learn about her culture and traditions.

“I have learned that education will help and give a brighter future and people should never neglect studies.

“I am ready for all the challenges ahead of me and ready to practise whatever I have learned during my three years in India.”
