G-Factor Crucial in Win

- ANASILINI RATUVA Edited by Osea Bola

The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team was reminded to stay humble and keep their faith after winning the Singapore Sevens defeating Australia 28-22 in the Cup final.

After the breathtaking final on Sunday night, the players were reminded in the locker room by strength and conditioning coach Naca Cawanibuka.

He reminded the players of how God worked wonders in every final second of their games from Cup quarterfinal to the final. “Today we remember God from the quarterfinal, semifinal and final. We were losing and we thought it was finished, game over but we came back again.

“There is no one to be praised or applauded for the win but God. “No one in this room is an X-Factor. But there is only a G-factor that we always believe and we need to maintain that.

“Most times when we win, we boast about ourselves, we start to change how we behave, how we talk. But I remind you, please stay humble.”

Serevi: Keep Working Hard

Sevens rugby legend Waisale Serevi reminded the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team to be consistent if they are to win the 2017/2018 World Sevens Series title.

Fiji currently leads the standings with 145 points and Serevi was asked to speak on behalf of the people of Fiji after the final at the locker room.

“On behalf of the 14 provinces in Fiji, your family around the world, I’m here representing all of them, thank you for your performance. “I also want to thank God for the win. Go back home and keep working hard for the London, Paris tournaments next month.”

Coach Gareth Baber acknowledges Serevi’s support towards the team.

“Having a legend of the game with us is always good,” Baber said.
