More injuries for Chiefs

-

The Chiefs suffered yet another season-ending injury, with No 8 Taleni Seu the latest to be ruled out of their Super Rugby campaign.

Having been hit hard during the pre-season and the early weeks of the competition, the Chiefs were just starting to feel the pain ease as they eyed up the second half of their season.

However, coming out of their second and final bye and getting set for the in-form Jaguares in Rotorua on Friday night, the team were dealt a blow with news on Monday of Seu’s back injury, along with a hand problem for Tiaan Falcon which will keep the first five-eighth out of action for three to four weeks.

There was also confirmation that utility back Sam McNicol’s battle with concussion will force him out of the campaign without taking the park, bringing to eight the number of players the club have had scratched for the season.

Seu, who had an arm injury end his 2017 Super season, has battled a back complaint in recent weeks, and it’s now been found that he suffered a lumbar spine fracture in the match against the Hurricanes on April 13. While there was no confirmation of how first five-eighth Damian McKenzie (concussion) and winger Sean Wainui (shoulder) had pulled up following the match against the Reds in Brisbane pre-bye, Cooper indicated post-training on Monday that there could be a few returnees for Friday night.
