Aregistered charitable universal faith organisation is organising MediCare camps in remote, rural and maritime areas in Fiji, which started yesterday.

The Sathya Sai Service Organisation–Fiji intends to run the camp for five days and it will deal with several branches of medical care, from gastroenterology, paediatrics, general medical, paediatric and surgical check-ups and minor surgical procedures, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, stroke, physiotherapy, ophthalmology/optometry, dental services and dietetics.

The New Zealand SaiMediCare team consisting of more than 90 personnel with various medical professionals and support staff from New Zealand will be here until to Friday.

They will conduct free medical camps to support the work that has been undertaken by the local and visiting medical teams.

These highly professional camps are held predominantly in the rural remote areas where specialist medical services are difficult to access. Services will be provided by health professionals from New Zealand, Australia and Fiji in various disciplines

Free medication will be dispensed where necessary.

Those seeking medical assistance are requested to bring along their National Health Card, all medical details and current medications.

The Sai Organisation is a registered charitable universal faith organisation that carries out various acts of charity in Fiji.

The Sai Organisation has provided outreach medical camps for more than 20 years when groups of health professionals go to the community to provide them with free medical consultations and treatment.

This concept has evolved and for the past 13 years a group of specialists from Australia and New Zealand come to Fiji to provide free health, dental and eye care. They take their team of doctors, nurses and dentists to remote areas and provide a week-long opportunity for people to consult with overseas specialists for free.

This year the New Zealand team will comprise just over 90 personnel. They were scheduled to conduct an outreach clinic in Nagado, Nadi yesterday.

The team will proceed by boat to conduct Sai MediCare Camps in Levuka, Gau and Koro Islands. In August, another Sai MediCare team from Australia will visit Vanua Levu to provide health care to remote communities.

The visiting Sai MediCare team members are from all faiths and are motivated by the service centered activities of the Sai Organisation globally with the guiding principles of “Love All Serve All”, “Help Ever, Hurt Never”.

Each medical camp is preceded by a medical seminar where the overseas specialists share their knowledge and expertise with local doctors and medical students.
