FARMER RECEIVES NEW COPRA DRIER

-

The recent commissioning of a new copra drier at Dawana Bay in Cakaudrove will help boost copra production for estate owner Biraj Nand.

Mr Nand has been involved with the copra industry for more than 20 years, possessing a 75 hectare coconut plantation.

“I used to have an old drier but because it was small, I only produced 1.5 to 2 tonnes of copra every month. This new structure will help boost production which can get me 3 tonnes per month,” the 65-year-old said in an interview.

He assured Mr Nand that the Government through the Ministry of Agriculture would be always be ready to assist him.

“I would like to encourage you to keep up the good work and also assure you that the Government through the Ministry of Agriculture will be there to provide the necessary assistance,” Minister Seruiratu said.
