Namosi Council Passes 2018–2019 Budget

The Namosi Provincial Council yesterday passed its 20182019 Budget during its meeting at the Ro Kuruduadua Meeting Complex, Navua.

The budget is $301,051.

The provincial council treasurer, Adi Aseri Rokotuinac­eva, said from this amount $75,535 would come from Government, $62,159 would come from the provincial council and $163,357 from profits and rents.

The total to be used this year, she said, would be $300,947 and they would be left with $104. Roko Tui Namosi Rupeni Kunaturaga said he was happy that the budget had been passed. Meanwhile, Mr Kunaturaga also presented a paper on the Adi Namosi Festival 2018.

The target he said was $150,000. The committee had proposed that the opening of the festival was to be carried out by the people of Namosi living overseas. Closing will be done by the Namosi Women’s Group.

The festival will be from November 8 to 9 at the Navua ground. Mr Kunaturaga said the districts would be tasked to prepare for the traditiona­l welcome ceremony for the guests.

From the $150,000 target, he said $62,159 would go to the provincial levies, $30,000 for scholarshi­ps, $25,000 to go to Fijian Holdings, $5000 for turaga-ni-koro and district representa­tives’ bonus, $15,000 for the Namosi Festival; $10,000 for provincial developmen­ts and $2841 to be banked.

The districts are urged to prepare for the festival.

Meanwhile, Mr Kunaturaga also presented a paper on the Adi Namosi Festival 2018. The target he said was $150,000.
