Visama main replacement works to better water supply

Work on $126,786 project expected to complete on June 21.

-

Water main replacement works in Visama, Tailevu, has brought smiles to many faces, according to Visama Village headman, Serupepeli Lomani. He thanked the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) for undertaking the work.

Complaints by customers in the farming community of

Visama about the frequently burst water main and low water pressure will soon end, when the

WAF workers complete the main replacement works.

More than 265 people will soon receive constant water supply in their homes, as the main replacement work will improve the capacity and sustainability of the current infrastructure and enhance the supply of clean and safe water.

WAF is replacing the existing AC pipes with DN 100 MPVC pipes. This will increase the volume of the water supply to the area and mitigate against burst mains and leakages resulting from the old infrastructure.

The reticulation system is also being relocated for ease of access for future maintenance works.

Work on the $126,786 project began on April 27, this year and is expected to be completed by June 21.

WAF continues to champion the provision of a sustainable supply of quality water to the people of Fiji. Feedback: jyotip@fijisun.com.fj
