It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that this year belongs to Sonam Kapoor. The actor, who turned 33 on June 9, has been in the news since the beginning of the year, and is likely to be in it for rest of it as well. First, it was her cameo in Akshay Kumar’s PadMan that caught the audience’s attention. It was another refined performance from Sonam after 2016’s Neerja. She showed how she has evolved as an actor. She impacted the film as much as Akshay. It was all in her understanding of the situation. She didn’t go overboard, but communicated the essence of being an empowered woman quite easily. Before the buzz around PadMan could die, she was back in news, this time for her wedding with businessman Anand Ahuja. It turned out to be the entertainment event of the year as she was tracked everywhere by the paparazzi.

Be it her dress or dance videos or her family photographs, she made the whole world sit and take notice. Sonam was the ultimate star during that period.

Things kept falling in place for her. Just when her wedding celebrations finished, she was there to walk the red carpet at Cannes. The build up to her latest film Veere Di Wedding had started by then.

She and her co-stars left no stone unturned in promoting their film. This was important because it was one of the rare Bollywood films totally hingeing on female actors. The fact that Veere Di Wedding was her home production made it even more important for Sonam.
