Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou believes that it is time to hear the voice of our youths. He said this during the Ministry of Youth and Sports awards night in Labasa on Thursday night. Mr Tuitubou said youths should create a vision and work towards it. “Most of us as adults use and don’t prepare our youths to become leaders of tomorrow, most of the time we don’t have a vision for their future,” he said.

“It is our role as adults to have a vision for our youths.

“With participants from rural and urban areas, it sets the ideal platform to gauge the effectiveness of our role in empowering our young and future leaders.

“You are no longer leaders of tomorrow, but in fact the leaders of today.”

He said they recognised the effort of every youth in Fiji. “Government hopes that our programmes and assistance plant the seeds of prosperity for our nation. “We hope that through our various services, individuals and groups will take that leap into entrepreneurial ventures,” Mr Tuitubou said.

“We recognise the efforts of individuals and youth clubs that have contributed to their community in one way or another, but we recognise particularly those who have indeed taken that step into entrepreneurship.” Mr Tuitubou added collectively, we have something to show for what we are doing through tangible results.
