The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) will be organising an Olympic Day Run in Suva on Friday. This was announced at Fiji Olympic House yesterday during the launching of the event with partners Fiji Gas, McDonald‘s and Fiji Water.

Fiji Gas chief executive officer Hans Reiher said they are happy to be in partnership with the event.

“We want to announce that this is more than just a sporting event, it is a place where you get active and learn about the Olympic values and discover a new sport,” he said.

“So Fiji Gas believes in a healthy Fiji and we would like to invite everyone to come and be part of the event. FASANOC chief executive officer Lorraine Mar said the Olympic day run celebrates the founding of the Olympic movement and anyone that takes part is taking part in a worldwide event that makes up the Olympic family

“Olympic Day Run participants will be able to participate in Olympic values programmes whilst waiting for runners to complete their run,” she said.

“As the runners will be taking part in an Olympic family worldwide event, all participants will receive an official IOC Olympic Day certificate at the completion

of the run.

“With the event it’s not just for participants to come out and enjoy but one of the main purposes is to also promote physical activity as part of a healthy life style.”

The sponsorship of Fiji Gas and McDonald’s will fund the vests and t-shirts for the participants.

Mar encourages the community to get active on Olympic Day and to join the Olympic family in being active during the sports and wellness day.
