Trump amends disaster declaration for American Samoa
US President Donald Trump has amended his major federal disaster declaration for American Samoa.
According to a White House statement, the President made additional disaster assistance available to American Samoa by authorising an increase in the level of federal funding following Cyclone in February this year.
Under the President’s major disaster declaration issued on March 2, federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 per cent of federal funding of total eligible costs. Under the President’s amended order, this funding has been increased to 90 per cent of the total eligible costs.
