‘I Sold My Land to A Chinese From Aust’
His revelation comes in the wake of his resentment of the growing Chinese influence in region which was aired on TV
SODELPA Party leader Sitiveni Rabuka revealed last night that he had sold his Valavala Estate in Savusavu, Vanua Levu, to a Chinese from Australia.
His revelation comes in the wake of an interview with 60 Minutes television programme, which reported that Mr Rabuka was angered by the growing Chinese influence in Fiji.
Mr Rabuka stated that the Chinese who bought his estate came from Brisbane. “I have never seen that Chinese, the agent that brought him in said he was a livestock breeder in Brisbane, so I thought he was an
Australian,”
Mr Rabuka said. He said the dealing was done through a local agent and he later found out that the buyer was Chinese.
“I had an arms-length dealing with him. The name was in Chinese, but the address was from Brisbane.”
He did not reveal the cost.
It is understood the land is more than 10 acres. Mr Rabuka said his challenge now would be trying to improve the misconception that “we are a race-based party.”
Mr Rabuka stated the election of Vijay Singh as one of the three Vice Presidents was a “very good move in the right direction.” He said they would attract the Indo-Fijians supporters because “I have projected during my performance as Prime Minister that I looked after all the races.” Commenting on the outcome of the Annual General Meeting last week, Mr Rabuka said the turnout was good and he was happy with the support from the West. “That was the biggest AGM we have ever had. And the support in the West is very, very good and growing.”
Sainiana Radrodro
He said the motion to expel Sainiana Radrodro, wife of MP Aseri Radrodro, was not an attack against women.
He said it was a straight forward attack on a member, “it could be a male or female.”
Youths growing
He also highlighted that their youths were doing well, even better than when the former youth leader, Pita Waqavonovono, was involved.
Lynda Tabuya
Rumours being spread about his relationship with Linda Tabuya were the work of “evil minds.”
“Well it is just purely politics, and she is also my niece,”
He said that Ms Tabuya’s mother is from Tawake Village in Udu, Vanua Levu. His mother came from there too. ALSO READ
