Strong focus on the family with new initiatives was a big winner.

Amajority of Fijians polled in the latest

Fiji Sun-Razor weekly poll like the 2018-2019 National Budget.

The poll was conducted through a face-to-face interview with 1000 Fijians (500 in the Central Division, 300 in the Western Division and 200 in the Northern Division).

Sixty per cent said that the 2018-2019 National Budget was good, 21 per cent said it

was average, 19 per cent stated it was poor.

It came as no surprise. The Budget’s strong focus on the family with new initiatives was a big winner. The measures include $1000 payment to the mother of a newborn baby (for first three babies), paternity leave and a longer maternity leave.

The National Budget for this financial year was announced by the AttorneyGeneral and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum on June 28.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama still commands a strong lead as preferred PM. He polled 64 per cent this week. SODELPA leader Sitiveni Rabuka overtakes Opposition leader Ro Teimumu Kepa in second spot. He jumps from 10 per cent

last week to 13 per cent. Ro Teimumu drops from 14 per cent last week to nine per cent. She is tied with National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad in third spot. The NFP has bounced back from one per cent last week to five per cent. It is tied with the Fiji Labour Party.

FijiFirst continues to command a strong lead at 68 per cent.
