The Rewa football team continued on with their winning run as they dump Suva 2-0 during the Vodafone Premier League clash at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday. Both teams took time to settle down.

Backed by their vocal fans, Rewa started to pressure the visitors into making mistakes. Piling pressure on the Suva defence paid dividend when the hosts got a penalty but Epeli Saukuru failed to find the back of the net. But in the 20th minute Rew drew first blood when Sairusi Nalaubu broke through the strong Suva defence to slot in the opening goal.

Nalaubu haunted the Suva defenders with his dribbling skills as he time and again found loopholes in their defensive line. In one of his attempts the ball came off defender Filipe Baravilala and sailed past goalkeeper Emori Ragata for the second goal.

Suva had their chances to score but taking wrong options proved to be their downfall.

Rewa coach Lorima Dau said: “I’m happy with the win. In the next match there are a few areas that we want to get it right.

“We still need to work hard before we head into the Inkk Mobile Battle of Giants tournament where we will face Suva again.”

Suva coach Gurjit Singh said: “We were expecting a loss but we’ll meet Rewa again in the B.O.G.

“So this is a wake-up call for Suva and the boys will need to step-up before the next match.”
