Rohit Anand, 36, was rudely awoken by a loud sound after a private car hit his house yesterday morning.

The incident took place at around 4.45am along Rewa Street. Mr Anand said he was still sleeping when he felt something push him from his mattress.

“The car hit the wall and pushed it against the couch to where I was sleeping,” he said.

“I was shocked when I woke up. I could hear noises outside.” Mr Anand added that looking at the damage they might not be able to repair the house, but they would need to rebuild it.

The house has been there for more than 50 years.

“This is our family house,” he said.

A witness Mere Nabati, who was at the scene a few minutes after the incident, said she saw four passengers and the driver when she got there.

“We just thankful that no one is injured or dead, but the house is badly damaged,” she said.

The driver was taken to Samabula Police Station for questioning as investigations continue.
