Timely donations from a textiles company will keep children, of two orphanages in Nadi, warm at night during the cold weather conditions prevailing in Fiji.

Tranquil Textiles company along with director, Brad Wilson donated sets of warm clothing and cartons of books to Treasure House Children’s Home and the Saint Mina’s Coptic Orthodox Orphanage yesterday.

The Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Permanent Secretary, Dr Jiosefa Koroivueta, praised Tranquil Textiles for its efforts in helping unfortunate children in Fiji.

“The donation has brought joy to the hearts of these children, their guardians and also the respective religious organisations looking after these homes,” Dr Koroivueta said. “For years Tranquil Textiles based in Namaka, Nadi has been looking for ways to make use of some of its leftover yarns to produce garments for a worthy cause.

“Just a few weeks we got engaged and they have packed it into the sizes of every child at the homes.” Saint Mina’s Coptic Orthodox Orphanage general priest, Father Rafael Bassil, gave his blessings on the textile company directors and also acknowledged them for the donation. He said the donation would be of great use for the 18 children under their care.

Treasure House Children’s Home director, Ulamila Powell, said the warm clothing would be put into good use by the children because Fiji was experiencing cold nights. “These sweaters, scarves and beanies have come at the right time for the 21 children here,” she said.

Tranquil Textiles director, Brad Wilson, was accompanied by his wife and their two children to make the donation of 250 warm clothing to the two orphanages and a senior citizen home in Natabua , Lautoka. He said they planned to donate more than 5000 warm clothing to all orphanages and senior citizen homes around the country.
