Suva bounces back, Rewa lose
Property Valuation-sponsored Suva side bounced back in style with a 6-0 drubbing of Dreketi in their second pool match of the 2018 INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
After going down to Rewa 0-2 on Friday, the capital city side staged a good fightback. The Jitendra Nand-coached Dreketi team became the first team to bow out of the B.O.G after the second loss
What happened: Suva opened the floodgates in the 22nd minute with midfielder Kelvin Naidu beating goalkeeper Petero Tamaniabo.
In the 36th minute, Filipe Baravilala scored Suva’s second goal after Dreketi defenders were caught off guard.
Halftime: Suva 2- 0 Dreketi.
Suva was in total control in the second spell and scored four more unanswered goals through Nailaga, Ba native Sakaraia Naisua,
Savenaca Nakalevu, Ravinesh Karan Singh and striker Faizal Ali.
Star Turn: Kelvin Naidu was influential in setting up three goals and also scored the opening goal.
Big Play: Ravinesh Karan Singh dictated play from the midfield and also scored a stunning goal from out wide.
Comments: Suva coach Gurjeet Singh said, “It was good to see the team scoring goals and this positive result should motivate the players to improve and perform better against Nadi. Finishing was our major drawback in recent matches. This is positive for us but we could have scored a couple more goals if the players were on target.”
Dreketi captain Akeimi Ralulu said, “It was tough luck on our side as Suva managed to score more goals. We just did not function as a team.”
