Three men charged with aggravated robbery have had their bail extended. Nishal Rahul Roy and Josefa Nacagilevu appeared before Suva High Court judge, Justice Chamath Morais yesterday, while the first accused, Vicky Vikash Roy, was not present in court. The three men have been charged with one count each of aggravated robbery. It is alleged that on May 12, 2018 in Sawani, Nausori, the three men robbed the complainant of his vehicle valued at $14,000, $20 cash and a taxi meter valued at $300, to the total value of $14,320.

The defence told the court that the first accused, Vicky was not present in court because his wife had informed the lawyer that Vicky was assaulted in Nausori by a man and was at the Nausori Health Centre for medical assistance. She also informed the court that she would file Vicky’s medical report in court.

State prosecutor Susan Sarukai sought the defence lawyer’s assistance to provide the birth certificate of Vicky because his name was not accurate.

Ms Sarukai also told the court that she was informed by the Police that Vicky was not complying with his bail conditions.

She told the court that one of Vicky’s bail conditions was to report to the Raiwaqa Police Station every Monday, as stated in his bail condition, which he had failed to do.

Ms Sarukai also sought seven days to file further information and disclosures.

Justice Morais told the court that he would reconsider their bail on their next appearance.

The matter was adjourned to July 30.
