First Quality Circle Symposium Attendees Scoop Awards
Fiji Sugar Corporation Labasa employees were delighted when they scooped two awards during the first Quality Circle Symposium at the Labasa Civic Centre on Thursday.
The one-day symposium organised by the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC) and Fiji National University (FNU) had participants from five different organisations.
Quality Circle Symposium co-ordinator and a certified productivity practitioner of Asian Productivity Organisation Kavinesh Sami said plans are already in process for the second Quality Circle Symposium in the North after the overwhelming response from the industries. “The first ever Quality Circle Symposium was hosted as an inaugural annual event by the NTPC with the purpose of celebrating, sharing, benchmarking and recognising outstanding quality circle teams from all industries sectors in the Northern Division,” Mr Sami said. “In today’s economy, quality and customer service are still paramount, but one aspect of the business that has crept up on many companies and found many to be flat-footed in embracing the new frontier of the business challenge is innovation.
“There is now an absolute imperative to embrace change in a world that is changing at an ever-accelerating rate,” he added.
“This can be achieved by the establishment of the innovation equivalent of the renowned quality circles team.
The Department of Quality Awards has already started its journey towards the 23rd National Convention on Quality 2018 which will be held at Pearl Resort on October 4-5.”
Total Number of participants was 135.
