Dr Friedlander to speak on ‘Keeping teeth for life’
Dr Lara Friedlander will be one of the guest speakers at the Fiji Dental Association’s 42nd Annual Conference and AGM which will begin on August 4, 2018 at Hilton Fiji Beach Resort, Nadi.
Her lecture topic is based on: ‘Keeping Teeth for Life’ – Patientcentered Endodontics.’
An abstract on this topic states: “With an increased global awareness around healthy aging, emerges a focus on ‘keeping teeth for life’ and managing oral disease into old age to improve quality of life and health.
The caring for older patients with pulp and endodontic disease can be challenging but rewarding.
Dr Friedlander’s presentation will offer a multidisciplinary, patientcentred care approach to endodontics.
This fairly new and emerging field of dental research will highlight the importance of health, case selection, prognosis and holistic treatment planning will be emphasised with practical tips for navigating the aging root canal system. “Outcomes may challenge the healing, success or survival conundrum but still meet patients’ needs, wants and values and communication is the key,” believes Dr Friedlander.
Dr Lara Friedlander’s learning objectives include:
■ To understand patient-centred care in endodontics.
■ To understand the importance of case selection and treatment planning in the older adult.
■ To understand the relationship between oral health and general health.
■ To gain practical clinical tips in managing older patients for endodontics.
■ Endodontics outcomes and what constitutes ‘successes’.
