Serevi: Fijian 7s team need to learn and move on
Serevi said after the 4th place finish at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco last month, the Fijians know where they went wrong before the World Sevens Series resumes in November in Dubai.
Sevens rugby legend Waisele Serevi said the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team need to learn from defeat and move on.
Serevi said after the 4th place finish at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco last month, the Fijians know where they went wrong before the World Sevens Series resumes in November in Dubai. “I want to thank Coach Gareth Baber and captain Seremaia Tuwai and all the boys for the effort, training and all the hard work they put in,” Serevi said
“Fiji had the opportunity but the key thing was for them is to figure out how to finish the game.
“At the moment, my advice to the players is just to forget what has happened during the RWCS and move on focussing on what is next which is the World Sevens Series and the 2020 Olympic Games. “The most important thing that they need to improve, work together and move on.
“Everyone knows how to attack and defend but one of the important things is one has to be mentally tough.”
Serevi urges the fans to support team in upcoming tournaments “I know people are disappointed but we just need to keep support- ing the players as they prepare for World Sevens Series and the Olympics,” he said
“There are no small teams and there are no big teams rather it depends on how they perform during the game as that matters in the end.”
Serevi will speak during the celebration on the Diversity in Sports at the University of the South Pacific today.
