Waisake Naholo has urged members of the Cuvu College Under-18 team to play their best in the Powerade Super Deans Rugby final at the ANZ Stadium, Suva on Saturday.

The All Blacks wing, preparing for The Rugby Championship test against the Wallabies next week, said the Nadroga-based school should not be carried away or distracted on the achievements of Ratu Kadavulevu School but to focus on their own task. Speaking to SUNsports from New Zealand yesterday, the former Cuvu College student believes his younger brothers have what it takes to win their first Deans title this Saturday if only they put their 100 per cent focus on their performance on the field.

“I think the best thing that the players can do is to focus on themselves, their own jobs and their own thing during the game and not getting too carried away or to get distracted by the name Ratu Kadavulevu School or the fans. “Focus on what they need to do and they will be good,” Naholo said. The Highlanders winger also warns the team on how RKS fans will come out dominant on the day which will make their task even tougher.

“As a small school that will be competing with one of the wellknown rugby schools, RKS fans will be very vocal.

“It’s going to be a tough game but I think everyone needs to work together and worry about their own job and task than everything will be alright,” he said.

The Nadroumai, Nadroga native congratulates his former school for making it into the final for the first time and they will carry the hopes of the western division.

“I wish them all the best in their preparation. It is a great opportunity for them to make history to carry Cuvu College for us and represent the western division. They need to be just themselves and make their families proud,” Naholo said.

Naholo will be contacting old scholars in Fiji on ways of supporting the team on Saturday.

“All the old scholars that are here in overseas we will be getting in touch with the old scholars in Fiji as we will support them all the way.”

He hopes to see more Cuvu College students following his footsteps. “I would like to see them be like me. Rugby is more than a game it can help them look after their family as well.”
