BUSES THE WAY

It seems the horrific accident at Nabou has been a habit changer for our travelling public.

Case in point at Lautoka and Sigatoka bus stands yesterday. While the minibus/minivan stands seemed empty, inter-city bus companies were forced to put on extra buses for the throngs travelling to Suva for the Powerade Super Deans Rugby finals at the ANZ Stadium. BTL was told that one bus company ordered extra buses for Suva in the space of an hour and a half six buses left Lautoka headed for the capital. Drivers were directed to park at the company garage in Suva after dropping passengers and wait for the hordes returning West after the finals.

A frequent minibus/minivan user and former RKS student even went to the extent of having his eticketing card done in Lautoka on Friday just so he could travel by bus to Suva. Back to the buses, it seems.

DANGER DRONE

What happens when you fly a drone over our main military camp, Suva’s Queen Elizabeth Barracks?

One man out Nabua way found out, it seems. Suspicious eyes at the camp spotted the circling drone. No, they didn’t shoot it down.

But its operator was tracked down through joint militaryPolice co-operation.

Word is he had to answer more than a few questions about what he was up to.

Not a very smart fellow.

THINGS WE LIKE

A generous buffet breakfast included in the room charge at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.

A restaurant with a view and a friendly staff add to the good morning.

THINGS WE DON’T LIKE

Vehicles parking everywhere along the two-lane road port side of Suva market Saturday afternoons.

They spoil efforts to smooth the traffic flow.

Where are those Police motorcyclists at times like these?
