Naitasiri flanker Filimoni Seru has been assisting the new members of the Fiji Airways Fijian Drua side as they prepare for the 2018 Australian National Rugby Championship.

To retain his spot in the 33-member squad, Seru says, he is grateful to head coach, Senirusi Seruvakula for having faith in him.

The tireless flanker turned lock was one of the standout players during last year’s NRC.

“This is my second year to be part of the Drua team and I’m looking forward to fully utilise the knowledge that I’ve learnt with the rest of the players especially the new ones,” he said.

He is more grateful that players who played with him last year like Mosese Voka, Frank Lomani, Apisalome Waqatabu, Avete Daveta and Cyril Reece are also in the team.

“We have some young players in the team and together we will be working hand in hand with them to make it this a good team.

“From last year’s experience it has upgraded by skills and knowledge of rugby and I’m hopeful that it will get bigger and better after this year’s competition.”

The Fijian Drua will kick-off the 2018 NRC with two home matches against the Melbourne Rising on September 1 at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori and Brisbane City on September 8 at Churchill Park, Lautoka. It is likely that Fijian-born Australian Wallaby wings Marika Koroibete and Sefa Naivalu are going to play for Rising while City are expected to bring in elusive playmaker Quade Cooper and Karmichael Hunt who are out to reclaim their spot with the Wallabies.
