Sugar Festival makes call for clean environment
The 2018 Vodafone Sugar Festival was opened on Saturday night with a call for a clean environment to be foremost on people’s minds.
The call came from Nilesh Singh, Vodafone’s head of recharge and distribution at Churchill Park ground two in Lautoka. Mr Singh said that the message should be highly taken into consideration because it was a concern for everyone.
“It is important to realise that Fiji needs a clean environment and a healthy nation which will eventually lead to a brighter future,” he said.
“The festival has become a major platform for bringing people together from different cultural backgrounds.”
Mr Singh said the contestants would get an unprecedented level of exposure to prepare them for further life challenges.
Sugar Festival Association president, Pusp Raj, said at the opening that people would get the opportunity to have unlimited fun at the grounds for the entire week. Nine Queen contestants are part of this year’s festival.
