Vuniwaqa, Delegation Explore Services Design For Aged
AGovernment delegation to the Republic of Korea will explore opportunities and see how services for the aged are designed, implemented and monitored for sustainability.
The delegation is led by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa.
Minister Vuniwaqa, while visiting the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare, said that an increasing number of Fijians were likely to need some help in their day-to-day living due to old age and disabilities.
She added that the Fijian Government through the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation was committed to achieving its mandate to address the issues faced by our women, children, families, persons living with disabilities and older persons.
Minister Vuniwaqa also stated that the main purpose of their visit was to see firsthand the policies and programmess in relation to Aged Care and contextualise it to suit the care of the elderly back in Fiji, particularly those who reside at State Homes. Minister Vuniwaqa and the delegation later visited the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA) a research institute and met with the Vice President, Dr. Kyung Hee Chung.
The main agenda discussed include policies and various programmes that they undertake to help the aging population.
In the days ahead the delegation will be visiting care facilities to study infrastructure designs and programmes in each care facility so that it can be contextualised into the three state homes in Fiji. Source: DEPTFO
