Shipment of water to affected areas

More shipments of water for those affected by the prolonged dry spell in the Western Division is being planned for this week.

According to the office of the, Acting Commission­er Western, Joji Satakala, these include cartage to keys areas in islands where schools and health centres are located.

The islands include Yasawa, Malolo and Nacula.

Namosolevu Catholic School in Nacula Island will be provided 110,000 litres of water in the next 24 hours. (11 tanks x 10,000 litres each)

For the Yasawas, Ratu Namasi Village School in Nabukeru, a total of 20,000 litres will be supplied in the next 24 hours. In addition, Bukama Village School would be catered with 40,000 litres of water in the same timeline.

The office also confirmed that 15,000 litres will be carted to Teci Nursing Station and 10,000 litres of water to Rara Kindergart­en School.

Therefore a total of 85,000 litres of water will be carted to the Yasawa Group in the next 24 hours.

And within the next 72 hours Malolo High School at Solveu, Malolo will be catered with 60,000 litres of water.

Water cartage is planned for villages in the Yasawa Tikina: Nabukeru, Tamusua, Teci, Dalomo, Bukama, Yasawa-I-Rara and many others. The shipment plan for all these villages will be within the next 72 hours.
