The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa has continued its “going green” journey in earnest.

This time the resort hopes to educate future generations by involving local schools and communities in their beach clean-up drives.

“It is aimed at giving back to nature and emphasising the importance of keeping Fiji’s natural environment pristine,” Area general manager Andrew Davidson said. And he led by example when he headed the resort team, their families and students from nearby schools in a massive beach clean-up campaign at Natadola Beach last Wednesday.

Their clean up drive covered the three main areas of the two-kilometre beach.

InterContinental Fiji sits on Natadola Beach – voted by as one of the best beaches in the world.

“The event highlights InterContinental Fiji’s participating in ‘Giving for Good Month’ - an annual global event where all IHG properties engage through volunteer, Go Green & Health fitness and wellbeing of the staff,” Mr Davidson said.

“The participation by staff and management of InterContinental Fiji will give financial assistance to the needy.

“This is through Care International UK, one of IHG’s long-standing partners, this major humanitarian aid agency is there for people when disasters strike.

“It helps IHG ensure our hotels know how to best prepare for and respond to disasters.”
