Shopkeeper’s Business Thrives with Newly Tarsealed Road

THE DEVELOPMEN­T OF THE ROAD HAD CHANGED THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE AT NASELAI, SAYS EMINONI LIDI

Ashopkeepe­r would tell you that road access plays an important role in operating business in a rural setting. And for Eminoni Lidi, seeing the newly tarsealed road in Naselai is a call for celebratio­n because he knows more opportunit­ies are now available.

The 57-year-old said: “It has been 30 years since I have been staying here. The only hardship that I go through here is the road condition. “The drivers refused to come here because of the road conditions. To me when I look back at the old road which used to bring dust and dirt it seemed as if it were a long time ago now. “And what’s more important is there is no longer any dust or dirt that will spoil my products. Before I had to wipe the louvers in the mornings and afternoons.”

Mr Lidi said that the developmen­t of the road had changed the lives of the people at Naselai.

“It has been a big relief after the developmen­t of this road that finally got tar sealed last month,” he said.

“We the residents here in Naselai are very happy for this tarsealed road.

“My shop looks after the Tikina o Rewa,Tikana o Vutia,Tikina o Burebasaga and the Tikana of Dreketi in the province of Rewa. “I would like to thank the Government of the day for their assistance to us. “This has brought a lot of changes to us.

“The tourists and the locals they all come and buy their groceries in my shop.

“I am so happy with the current batch of tourists who have just left and I am very happy.”
