The Cope Construction Nasinu Football team are currently upping the ante as they prepare for the much-anticipated 2018 Courts Inter District Championship in Suva on October 5-10.

According to Nasinu Football president O’neil Chand, they have secured nine players during the transfer window but a few players are yet to be confirmed until next week. Chand said the new players are settling in well with those who are already in the team.

“We will confirm the players and the final team next week,” Chand said. “We currently have 30 players in the squad and we will have to cut it down to 22. Right now we are working on putting the team together and see how well they are working as a unit.

“We also have some injuries in the team so all this will determine the team’s final selection.

“We have nine players from other districts while we have other players who are still sorting out a few paper works from their various districts before they join us next week.”

Chand said they have been training for the past five weeks and are also taking part in friendly matches with local clubs since then.

“We have played five games so far,” he added.

Nasinu last won the IDC in 1990 while their other best performance over the years during the IDC was in 1988, 1993 and 1996 where they settled for the runners-up position.
