“We are thankful to Mr Shah for donating $5000 towards the fencing project which will begin at the end of October,” Mr Gani said.

“In total this is about a $35,000 to $40,000 project and construction will end before the beginning of 2019 academic year.”

Mr Gani said during the cheque hand-over yesterday, Mr Shah further pledged to upgrade the computer room by installing an air-conditioning system and provide seven computers with free internet services for a year.

“Moreover, he has promised to provide 10 needy students with scholarships starting from next year,” Mr Gani said.

“Each student will be blessed with educational needs to help them incline their performance in the school.

“Overall the school has been undergoing some physical development thanks to our hardworking manager Rayasat Khan.”

The school is located 10 kilometres away from Labasa Town.

It has student roll of 125 from Year One to Eight, with eight teachers.

Mr Shah, the director of Aikay Builders and a thriving businessman, said he had always had in mind to give back to the people of Bocalevu.

“My parents’ house is near the school and I still remember those days when I used to pass by and have this dream to provide financial support,” Mr Shah said.

“I run my own business with my family in Nadi and it feels good to return and give back to the school.

“I am urging all former students and residents of Bocalevu to come together and support the school as they have many projects. “Under leadership of Mr Gani since 2013, the school has improved academically and physically and I hope to see more development.”
