The purpose of World Tourism Day is to foster awareness among the international community about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.

The tourism industry in Fiji has been booming over the past decade has grown at an annual rate of 10 per cent to 12 per cent. The expansion of tourism, which generates more expenditure in the economy, is likely to have implications for other industries.
