SPTO, FEXCO Sign Tourism Strategic Co-operation MoU

The South Pacific Tourism Organisati­on (SPTO) and FEXCO Pacific signed a Memorandum of Understand­ing on Monday in Auckland, New Zealand.

FEXCO Pacific is a leading financial services company in the region.

The signing underpins both organisati­ons’ vision towards strategic co-operation focused on developing a sustainabl­e framework that is mutually beneficial. The two also want to establish appropriat­e conditions to drive the value and strength of tourism in the Pacific region.

“SPTO is excited to be working with FEXCO Pacific and leveraging our organisati­ons’ resources, networks, membership and experience­s,” said SPTO chief executive officer Chris Cocker.

“(This to) progress in areas of common interest for the developmen­t and growth of tourism in the region, where currency exchange and cross-boundary payments are important for travellers and tourism businesses.”

FEXCO Pacific has operations in New Zealand, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, American Samoa, East Timor, Cooks Islands, Tuvalu and Kiribati. “FEXCO Pacific is keen to collaborat­e with SPTO and its members to serve and grow the tourism industry in the Pacific. We wish to add value to the great work be- ing done by SPTO in driving more value to the tourism community. Our desire is to deliver enhanced convenienc­e and tangible benefits to stakeholde­rs in the tourism ecosystem” said FEXCO CEO, Chris Wilby.

The partnershi­p between the two organisati­ons is anticipate­d to aid SPTO in assisting its private sector membership through enhanced value for money benefits and services to support sustainabl­e tourism business developmen­t.
