SODELPA finally submitted its candidates' nominations with a bank cheque yesterday. General secretary Adi Litia Qionibaravi made the submission.

On Tuesday afternoon the party had made submissions, but failed to meet a requirement set by the Fijian Elections Office. “We are happy that we have lodged our nominations today (yesterday) and we will expect the response from the Supervisor of Elections tomorrow (today) by 5 o'clock,” Ms Qionibaravi said.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem confirmed the party had now fulfilled all the requirements.

“The nominations we received today are in order,” he said.

“The Fijian Elections Office will now cross-check the nominations that we have received, we will do verification as per the requirement of the Electoral Act and we will respond to SODELPA with the result of the nominations within the next 48 hours.” Yesterday afternoon, National Federation Party executives led by vice-president, Seini Nabou lodged their nomination. She was accompanied by NFP provisional candidate, Kamal Iyer.

“We have submitted our nominations in accordance with the electoral act,” Mr Iyer said.

After receiving their candidate nominations, Mr Saneem said all documents were in order.
