Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has maintained a commanding lead in the deputy Prime Minster contest, the latest Sun News Poll reveals.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum polled 82 per cent. He has been consistently hitting the high figures, reflecting the work he has been putting in since the 2014 General Election.

Under his direction as Minister for Economy, the country has recorded a remarkable achievement in maintaining nine consecutive years of economic growth, even after the devastation by Tropical Cyclone Winston.

Other significant achievements include the continuing reforms in the civil service.

In the televised Parliament debates, Mr SayedKhaiyum has impressed viewers with his powerful performance.

He has been a loyal deputy to popular Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama. People know that they work well together.

Recently, he has supported Mr Bainimarama in denouncing divisive politics based on race and religion by some Opposition politicians. He has worked hard to promote racial and religious tolerance. People have noticed it and responded positively in the Sun News Poll.

Pio Tikoduadua, president of the National Federation Party, ranks second to him at 11 per cent while SODELPA’s Aseri Radrodro comes third at seven per cent.
