Or­gan­is­ers Plan For Ba Car­ni­val With A Dif­fer­ence

The stage is all set to mark the 10th Ba Farm­ers Car­ni­val with a spe­cial cel­e­bra­tion. Car­ni­val chair­per­son Naren­dra Padarath said the ob­jec­tive was to make this year’s car­ni­val dif­fer­ent from those of the pre­vi­ous years.

“We have so much en­ter­tain­ment lined up for all pa­trons so that they will never for­get,” Mr Padarath said. “The car­ni­val has grown over the years as well.

“Peo­ple of Ba are re­ally sup­port­ive and will be look­ing for­ward to this car­ni­val.”

Mr Padarath said that they would also ded­i­cate a spe­cial night to mark the car­ni­val’s 10th an­niver­sary. which would be on Oc­to­ber 19. Pro­grammes di­rec­tor Ru­peni Nauci said the carnoival’s theme is “Our Chil­dren—Our Fu­ture”. Mr Nauci said that the con­tes­tants would be ad­vo­cat­ing on the theme this year.

“It is im­por­tant that we al­ways look af­ter our chil­dren be­cause they are our fu­ture,” he said.

Mr Nauci said that en­ter­tain­ment would be pro­vided by a va­ri­ety of eth­nic groups from the Western Divi­sion.

There are a to­tal of six con­tes­tants vy­ing for top hon­ours in this year’s car­ni­val:

■ Losilini Mana­manaki­to­gaMiss Mota Sec­tor

■ Taraiv­ina Nasan­draMiss Var­avu Sec­tor

■ Priyanka San­jeevniMiss Koronubu Sec­tor

■ Nalani Kant- Miss Rarawai Sec­tor

■ Miriam Raju- Miss Veis­aru Sec­tor

The car­ni­val starts to­day at the Ba Mar­ket ground and will con­clude next week, Satur­day.
