EYES PILOT AS CAREER

Living far from home did not deter Reifa Jun Paula Buinimasi from succeeding in his studies.

The 17-year-old walked away with the Dux prize at the Marist Brothers High School prizegiving ceremony yesterday.

Reifa is originally from Naikeleyaga, Kabara, Lau, but his family lives in Nadi.

He has been a boarder at MBHS since he was in Year 9.

Reifa received awards for Best Biology, Best English, Best Science student for Year 12 and first prize in his class.

Reifa was emotional as he talked about his parents.

“My parents always motivated me and without them I would not have reached this far,” he said. “They taught me to always put the Lord first in everything that I do because the Lord will direct me. “The struggles my family go through motivated me to do my best and try and reach far in life.” Reifa plans to become a pilot. “We live in Nadi and while growing up I always see the plane take off and land and that was how my dream of becoming a pilot started,” he said.

“I believe I have what it takes to become a pilot, but God has his own plans for me.

“I plan to do my best in everything that I do so that I can take my family to a better place and to take away all the burdens and pains that my parents have been carrying alone. “I dedicate my achievements to my family, wardens, matrons and my friends who have always been there for me throughout.”

He has maternal links to Drekeniwai Village in Cakaudrove, Vanua Levu.
