- KUNAL GOUNDAR Feedback: kunal.goundar@fijisun.com.fj

Often women are not granted leadership roles but women have the credentials and capabilities to be leaders of organisations. This were the words of the president of Women in Business (WIB), Nur Bano Ali, during a workshop organized by WIB at Grand Pacific Hotel, Suva past Friday. The workshop was all about promoting the commercial interest of women.Ms Ali emphasised during the workshop that WIB has a mission to promote women in commercial leadership.

“The need for this workshop is to empower and encourage women for their betterment and see women in the executive levels.

“WIB is an organisation that supports the recognition of women in leadership roles and encourages them.

“WIB is conducting workshops, empowering women in business around Fiji to help up-skill women, learn about strategies to run a business and far most we are also marketing and financing business,” said Ms Ali.

“Through this session we inspire and motivate women to become leaders. We can see that we do not have many women chief executive officers in the country and we are trying to make them achieve their goals. Women will move to top corporate leadership positions and we will pass on knowledge and skills to those who can’t reach the top level. “It’s essential that women should put their interest and work towards accomplishing higher positions in commercial organisations.

“Grab an opportunity and know that, you can do it.

“We are here to empower women and guide them to work towards achieving their goals,” she said.
